When critical goods depend on a narrow set of suppliers, a single disruption can affect everyone downstream.

AM1ST United LLC began in April 2020, when shortages of masks, sanitizer, medicines and other basics revealed how exposed everyday life could become. The mission: make dependencies visible, promote domestic capability, and connect people who want to build durable solutions.

05 / THE FOUNDER'S STORYAPRIL 2020 → THE MISSION CONTINUES
MARC DAVID SILVESTRO // FOUNDER, AM1ST UNITED LLC

WHY I FOUNDED AM1ST.

A crisis revealed a weakness. A practical idea became a mission: America should be able to make the essentials it depends on.

THE SHORTAGES WERE A WARNING.

In April 2020, as the COVID-19 emergency disrupted everyday life, critical supplies became suddenly difficult to find. Hand sanitizer, masks, protective equipment, pipes, antibiotics, inhalers and other basics were no longer things people could take for granted. For founder Marc David Silvestro, those shortages raised a bigger question: what happens when America cannot reliably obtain the products its people need?

The concern went well beyond a temporary empty shelf. Dependence on distant factories and a limited number of supply routes can become a national vulnerability when transportation slows, demand surges, or another emergency arrives. Essential medicines were a particular concern: if production of vital ingredients or finished medications is concentrated far from home, patients and communities may be left exposed when those systems fail. Marc pointed to medicines including antibiotics such as amoxicillin and azithromycin, albuterol inhalers, and insulin as examples of the vital products America should be able to obtain reliably. These are examples of his supply-security concerns, not a claim that every one of those medicines was unavailable nationwide during 2020.

002 // THE DECISION TO BUILD

AMERICAN CAPABILITY IS AMERICAN READINESS.

That conviction led Marc to establish AM1ST United LLC in April 2020. His vision was not merely to call for more products labeled “Made in America.” It was to help rebuild the real capacity behind those words: manufacturing know-how, trained workers, essential materials, medical production, reliable power and partnerships that can keep necessities available when the unexpected happens.

With a background in the skilled trades, Marc saw American workers, builders, technicians, manufacturers and entrepreneurs as a central part of the answer. The mission is to encourage domestic production of critical medicines and other essentials, better visibility into vulnerable supply chains, and practical collaboration among people able to make progress.

003 // THE LONG-TERM MISSION

PREPARED AT HOME. READY TO HELP.

AM1ST's purpose is long-term resilience, not short-term reaction. A stronger United States should have dependable domestic options for the essentials it needs—so that a future crisis does not force families, hospitals or businesses to wait for a fragile global chain to recover. Self-reliance also makes a nation better positioned to assist others when help is needed.

The goal is not isolation from the world. It is strength through preparedness: produce what matters, strengthen what is vulnerable, work with responsible partners, and never treat the security of essential supplies as someone else's problem.
